Reasons Why I Love Girls #7: Surprises
Women will always find a way to surprise you. It doesn’t even have to be a big thing. The surprise “bringing me fast food” is one of my all time favorite surprise. You could find out she’s done 8 years of ballet and is incredibly flexable. Sure, not all of them are good. You may find out she has an eating disorder, or secretly hates the muppets, but you plow on. You take the good with the bad.
Then of course there are the girls themselves who just surprise you. Again, not always in a good way. You could finally get your dream girl and discover that you don’t want her. Or worse yet, that is just awful for you. She could be a horrible person, she could be somebody you get sick of in a week.
Occasionally you come across the girl who you don’t really think will amount to anything. Maybe you go on the pity date, maybe you went out with her cause she’s hot but seems like she’s dull. But then, right out of left field, she tells a joke or makes a Star Wars Simpsons reference and you start to see what is under the surface. And, before you know it you find yourself hopefully entranced by this girl. It’s an interesting thing to hang out with someone and realize how good of a time you actually had.
Maybe, in a bizarre and twisted way, it’s good to not have high hopes. If you go in without expectations, you really only have no disappointments if it it doesn’t work out, and it makes the special ones stand out that much more. If you have a small inkling that this girl is going to be amazing, you really are putting an unfair amount of pressure on it. Some of my longest relationships were girls I met while I was actively not looking for anything. I met a girlfriend of 3 years after 2 weeks of being tired of getting my hopes up over girls that lasted two weeks. So I went out with her, not expecting much & more importantly not even telling anybody about her before like a month into it. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I turned out to really dig the girl. It is a really wonderful thing to experience the drive home revelation that you had a way better time then you ever thought you would. And it makes the girl who just knocked you on your ass more special.
